Following the successful editions of 2011 (Delft), 2013 (Rotterdam) and 2015 (Bruxelles), we are proud to announce the 4th edition of the International Seminar on Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems, which will be held in Milano, Italy, from 13th to 15th September, 2017.

ORC 2017 is sponsored by

The members of the ORC2017 Organizing Committee will implement the successful conference format that in previous editions gathered in a friendly environment industrial and academic delegates operating in the field of ORC technology from all over the world.

Since the first edition in Delft, the International Seminar on Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems established itself as the reference technical conference on the topic. The ORC International Seminar provides a unique preview on the latest technologies, where new ideas and technical solutions are presented. At the same time, the academic community recognized the International Seminar on Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems as the natural and most relevant podium to present research achievements to the international audience. Moreover, industries operating in the field can benefit presenting to scientists and market operators the last improvements to their technology.

Following previous editions, but also considering new technical trends, the topics of the 4th International Seminar on Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems will include:
  • Applications and Energy Sources
  • System Design and Optimization
  • Experimental activities and techniques
  • Working Fluids, including mixtures
  • Turbines
  • Volumetric expanders
  • Heat Exchangers
  • Simulation and Design Tools
  • Advanced Control Strategies
  • Operational Experience on Prototypes
  • Supercritical CO2 and novel technologies
Established and emerging industrial operators will sit and discuss with experienced and young researchers to share new ideas leading to new projects and collaborations.
The seminar will take place in the dynamic framework of the city of Milano, the Italian capital of commerce and industry.

The International Seminar on Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems is more than a place where delegates meet and exchange information. It fosters the creation of new commercial and personal links via inspiring keynote lectures from renowned experts, via the inclusion of a wide range of technical aspects during parallel sessions, via open discussions during poster presentations and via more technical and commercial discussions during the Industry Day.

The 4th International Seminar on Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems will be hosted by Politecnico di Milano, one of the best technical Universities in Europe, where the pioneering work of prof. Angelino started in the early 70’s.

In the 2017 edition, the following objectives are actively pursued by the Organizing Committee:
  • to set high standards for the quality of the papers and presentations. A simple yet rigorous review system will be implemented to guarantee timely publication of new results while preserving the high standards of scientific communication. All papers accepted for oral or poster presentation will be published in Energy Procedia, a well known Elsevier indexed Journal (Impact Factor 1.07). A limited number of selected papers will be proposed for a special issue of Energy Journal of Elsevier (I.F. 4.81).
  • to broaden the participation from professional and students. In order to increase the number of delegates from the Industry, special sessions targeted to industrial applications will be organized. Lower conference fees have been set to facilitate the participation of PhD and MSc students.
  • to foster Technology transfer from Academia to Industry, and back. The ORC technology historically benefits from a close collaboration between Academia and Industry. A Technology Transfer Chair have been established to promote information and technology transfer in both directions.
